BC 2016 and 2017 Personal Marginal
Income Tax Rates
The Federal tax brackets and personal amounts are increased for 2017 by an indexation factor of
1.014, and the BC brackets and amounts are increased by an indexation factor of
1.018. The indexation
factors, tax brackets and tax rates have been confirmed to Canada Revenue Agency
information.
The marginal tax rates for eligible dividends for 2017 are
now slightly higher, as the BC 2017 Budget
reduced the non-eligible dividend tax credit rate for 2017. This was as a
result of reducing the small business corporate income tax rate from 2.5% to 2%.
This change was confirmed by the BC
September 2017 Budget, which also announced the introduction of a new top
personal tax rate of 16.8% for taxable income that exceeds $150,000, effective
January 1, 2018.
