BC's Road to Bankruptcy?

The interest cost in the year ended March 31, 2026 was $4.9 billion (2025 $4.6 billion), or $$408.3 million per month.

The debt per person (for every man, woman and child) grew by 15.6% to March 31, 2026, to $27,167, and is forecast to increase by another 50.7% to $40,935 per person by March 31, 2029.

The BC 2025 Budget forecast for debt at March 31, 2026 was $10.9B. By eliminating or deferring capital projects and including in revenue amounts that will be received over the next 18 years, this was reduced to $7.7B.
